Frequently asked

Why does my LinkedIn headline matter so much?+

Recruiters search LinkedIn by keyword. If your headline doesn't include the role you want, the seniority you target, and the niche you specialize in, you simply won't appear in their search results — no matter how strong your profile is.

What's the difference between a job title and a headline?+

Your job title is what you do today. Your headline is what you want to be hired for next. They're often different — that's the whole point.

Should I include my employer in my headline?+

Generally no. Recruiters search for roles, not employers. Save the employer for your experience section. The exception: if your employer is a major brand AND it's the role you want next.

How long should my headline be?+

LinkedIn allows 220 characters. Use 80-150. Long enough to include role + niche + outcome; short enough to be readable on mobile.
